I can’t believe how fast time goes by. It seems as if Thanksgiving just got over with and now it is here again. I see houses around town that are already being decorated for Christmas. I am having Thanksgiving at my house for the first time with extended family. We usually end up going to my parents house or my husbands parents house. I’m excited that I get to be the one to serve for once. I have been putting something daily on Facebook about what I am thankful for (well, almost daily). With Christ the center of my life, I have much to be thankful for. I keep thinking about the Pilgrims and all they had to endure. The textbooks don’t give you the gory details of why the Pilgrims thought it a blessing to be able to have a Thanksgiving meal together with the Indians. They finally had much to be thankful for after months on a ship, no food and all the dieing friends and relatives they had to say goodby to. I really enjoyed watching this with the kids for school.
Some things I am thankful for this year:
- My relationship with God
- My husband and children
- My health
- A roof over my head and food on the table
- To be able to homeschool
- Great friends
- Veggie burgers
This is a great Thanksgiving idea but I don’t know if I am going to do it yet because my husband thinks it would be weird to have food with paper in it. I think it would be fun, like a fortune cookie. If I don’t try it this year, I will definitely do it next year.
Here is the web site to see more pictures and get the recipe. It seems like it would be a fun thing to do with the kids. I also posted this on my Pinterest page.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and that you have many things to be thankful for in your life.
