Potato bread June 11, 2007

Here is a recipe for a potato bread that I make in my bread machine. It is so good. This recipe is for a 2 lb loaf. I didn’t know this at first and couldn’t figure out why every time I would go to get it out, it would be exploded all over and a big hole indented into it. My machine only has a 1 lb and 1.5 loaf so now I have to cut the ingredients in half.

  • 1 and 1/2 cups water

  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine (softened)

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 4 cups bread flour

  • 4 teaspoons sugar

  • 1/2 cup instant potato flakes

  • 2 and 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

  1. Measure and add liquid ingrediants to the bread pan.

  2. Measure and add dry ingredients (except yeast) to the bread pan.

  3. Use your finger to form a well (hole) in the flour where you will pour the yeast. Yeast must never come in contact with a liquid when you are adding ingredients. Measure yeast and pour into the well (hole).

  4. Snap the baking pan into the breadmaker and close the lid.

  5. Press “select” button to choose the Basic setting.

  6. Press the “crust color” button to choose light, medium or dark crust.

Enjoy!

Hi Tanya! The garden looks like the victim of a nuclear holocaust, I’m afraid. We’ll see if it can recover. I am not crying about it today, but it does hurt to look at it. I’ll try to get some pictures up here shortly. And I can’t say I “love” being pregnant; in fact, I’ve often said ‘if only I could go pick one (kid) up at the market…’ :)

I haven’t used my bread machine for quite awhile!

It looks like you and I have a lot of similar ideas;)
    Thanks for stopping by.
