5000 Collegiate words with brief definitions~ June 27, 2007
My oldest son is not so good at spelling so when I was doing a search online for spelling words to study with him, I found this. I kept it in my favorites so that I can continue using it with the other little ones. I thought I would share the web site.

Here are some pictures from Paul’s softball tournament this last weekend. It was night so I didn’t get to many good pictures and then my battery died on the camera with the charger at home. Paul had a good time even though he came home sore. Here is Matt hanging out by the fence practicing in the air. He has baseball blood all the way. Maybe he will be pro someday.

Kids in mind~ June 27, 2007
If you want to know if a movie is good for your child to watch, I found this in my favorites. I have come to realize and accept that nothing is good anymore. Even some of the cartoons they have now days are just nasty and seem geared more for adults. What happened to the good old cartoons? Everything is getting more violent as the days go by. I guess this is why hubby wants to rid all t.v.s in the house and stick to books.

News and FYI
Do Your Kids Like to Act?
Therese Burazin, the Director of the Found du Lac Area Home School Drama Troupe is interested in getting an Oshkosh Troupe together. Heidi Kerkof has spoken with her and this is how she likes to handle things:
She would like to meet with the parents, introduce herself, share her credentials and inform the parents on what her goals are. If you and your children are interested in joining this group, there will be an information meeting at Basic Books Cafe on July 19th at 7:00 PM. This is for parents only. Please R.S.V.P. to Heidi at 426.8063 or heidibk@northnet.net
The Fond du Lac organization has been in existence for three years and they have had several successful productions. Heidi has spoken to many parents that are active in the Fond du Lac organization and they have stated that their children enjoy working with Mrs. Burazin. The parents are impressed with her skills and how she works with the children. Heidi is very excited about developing a program for Oshkosh homeschoolers, and looks forward to hearing from you!

Children’s Choir
We will be starting a Homeschool Children’s Choir in the fall of 2007. We will hire a college student majoring in voice and teaching to direct the choir and teach the students. Providing we have enough interested students it will be of little cost to us financially (which is always concern to one-income families which we all understand) say, a dollar a student or so per week or $4 per month. We would put a family cap cost on any large families that might be interested of about $4 per family or so, hopefully making it possible for any interested students to participate.
We are open at this point to all ages, you as parents need to be the judge if your child is ready or can handle this experience. Contact Karen Tessier (235-6771 or tessieroshkosh@greenbaynet.com) with the names and ages of interested students along with phone numbers and/or email addresses.
For Sale
The Kerkhofs have a 1994 Chrysler Town & Country Minivan. Features include: 3.8L V6, 196,000 miles, Leather interior, CD Infinity Stereo.
Newish: Shocks, Struts, Engine mounts, and factory rebuilt Transmission (All with 30,000 miles or less). Good Body, Tires, Brakes. All Accessories work-except A/C. $1500 or Best Offer.
Why are we selling the white van? Bill’s dad is not able to drive any longer and gave Bill his car. With gas prices the way they are, we felt it would be best to keep the car for errands-and running a couple of children around-instead of taking either of the vans. If you are interested in seeing it, please call Heidi Kerkhof at 426.8063. Please forward this to anyone you know who may be interested. Thank you!

Ramblings~ June 26, 2007
Matt spraying insectacidal soap on the plants.
I am in a fog today. I don’t know why. I got enough sleep I think. I had one soda yesterday. I am so proud of myself. Because of this I was actually tired early last night and really relaxed yesterday. I haven’t noticed any with-drawls yet but I think it is smarter to try to come down slowly. If I start experiencing migraine head aches, I don’t know what I am going to do. Maybe insert a caffeine drip or something. Last night we slept down staires in the living room because it was soooo hot upstaires. Coming up on the top of the step, it was like stepping into a sauna. It is like that again today. It is suppose to rain today and tomorrow I believe. I hope so because the garden really needs it. I haven’t been out there in a few days but I am sure there is a days of work or more. The kids and I are going to go out there and work on it sometime this week. Today I am just going to try to keep the house clean. I have to take two chaires down to the basement because hubby is going to go to my sisters later to pick up the other couch for us. Her and her hubby just bought a new leather sofa so she is giving us her old set praise God. Things always happen just at the perfect time.
I had a fun weekend to my surprise. Paul had a tournament by Wausau this weekend so we went and spent the weekend with his parents. It is always so calm and quiet there. I sat outside alot with the kids and listened to all the swallows they have living up in there machine shed. You can see all the nests they have built and Im sure there are eggs or babies by now in them as well. The kids were having so much fun they didnt want to leave and see dad play ball half the time. It was the perfect weather to. Dad and grandpa set up the tent in their yard but after 10 minutes in it, they were to scared to sleep in it. I knew that was going to happen. Paul’s mom left for the day and went to see the Jeff Foxworthy show live. I thought I would surprise her and work in her garden while she was gone. It was just chalk full of weeds so Paul and I got out the tiller and went to work. She was surprised and I got a work out. I was sore the next day. You wouldn’t think that working in a garden was a work out but it is. Now I need to tackle our garden. At night Paul’s sister and her family came over and we made a fire with Paul’s dads new fire ring. The kids had so much fun. They roasted marshmellows and made smores with them. Yummy! I can’t remember the last time I made smores over a fire. When I got home, my dad had my floors waxed. I walked in my door and it was shining. I felt like I was walking into Wal Mart after they do their floors. I wonder how long it is going to stay this way?Well I suppose I will close for now. I have to take the chaires to the basement and eat my lunch. I may go to the garden yet today depending.
